I-5 Sunrise

Sunrise
Sunrise on the river. Simple enough.

Summer’s Gone

I like the idea of sunrise off camera. The promise of the day is in the reflections on the water, the boat and  the mind of the  photographer. Eventually the image comes together. Still water, mist rising and a garish day boat that looks better in black and white. I filled the sky with a touch of blue. Not sure why, but it feels right.  This picture tells me that it is the end of summer. That it will be a long time until the boat sails again. A long until the lake’s silence is joined with the exuberance of new summer memories mixed with the quiet conversation of waiting for the bass to rise.

Creek in Black and White

Seems like it should go somewhere magical doesn’t it? The right fork eddies a hundred yards off screen. Looks like it might be a boat launch. It was empty the day I was there. It seemed better to shoot the creek and leave the possibilities to the imagination. Maybe it  was a wisp of memory from a fishing trip only ever dreamed of, or a quiet night somewhere else, talking to a woman who said she loved me.
